I am Rylynn Hautala and I am a game design student in her senior year of college. I am a fairly competent programmer who has lead multiple projects as a tech lead through school projects and game jams. I have a lot of experience using Java and Unreal Engine 5 and have dabbled in using languages like c++, c#, and python. I also have a bit of experience using tools and plugins like FMOD Studio within Unreal Engine in order to make dynamic audio in games.
In the future I hope to learn some more involving VR simulations as a potential career path, but also devote a significant amount of focus to audio design and adaptive audio features in games such as rhythm game feedback, and dynamic audio based on player positions and statuses. Then, after building up those skills, I would like my career to push into some of those avenues. Audio work for virtual concerts would be a really cool path to go down, along with sound engineering for big games or rhythm game development. I would also enjoy being primarily a gameplay programmer as well.
Some resources that I have used in the past that have been help has been the official documentation series from FMOD Studio's channel. In addition I have also used resources for general Unreal Engine programming such as Ali Elzoheiry and Cobra Code. I highly recommend some of these resources if you need a hand with some mechanics in Unreal Engine.
The reason I chose to delve into game development in the first place is because of a lot of games I have enjoyed throughout the years, including ttrpgs, board games, and video games. Some of these include: D&D, Daggerheart, and Pathfinder 2e for ttrpgs; root, twilight imperium 4e, and magic the gathering for board and card games; and the Xenoblade Series, Persona Series, Legend of Zelda Series, unbeatable, and Fire Emblem Series, to name a few, for the video games.
